Wee Rolo...

On a day off from work I decided I'd try and take some animal photos. I got one of our puppies out into the garden, I'd normally get him out in the field but there are now sheep in it!

We have three puppies, about seven months old, and two older dogs, one two and the other five. All of our dogs are working Cockers, or working Cockers to be!

I think his eyes are gorgeous, they totally stand out and that's why I love this photo! He was quite hard to photograph because he's still young so wouldn't stay still for long but I did get some nice ones.

Bamboo...

I recently received a Wacom for my birthday from the better half, I decided on the medium Bamboo because it's a decent size and will be really good for starting out.

When I get my feet off the ground and can afford a more expensive one I will get the Intuos4!

Labridoodle pups...

So recently I was asked to take some photos for a family friend of her Labridoodle pups for an advert. Here are my favourite shots from the day.

They were really quite hard to shoot because they were constantly moving. Plus it was a really dull day so had to use a high ISO, that is why these photos are really grainy. My wee 550D can't handle the high ISOs!!!

The little boy was the ladys grandson, he needed a photo with the puppies and his teddy there for nursery. He is so cute!

21st birthday...

I think that for my 21st birthday I am going to put the money I get towards buying a new camera! I have wanted the Canon 5D Mark II for a while now and I think this is my chance to get it! I will need to get saving now though to get the rest together as this baby isn't cheap at around £2,000 (depending on what lens you get with it etc).

What a beast!!!

Wee edit

Here's a wee edit I decided to do recently. I wanted to make this image look a bit more dull and moody. I put a texture of old parchment over the top and added some cracked wall brushed to try and add to the effect. I might end up playing about with it a bit more but I really like it like this!

I found these images I took whilst wandering around the streets of Glasgow a couple of months ago doing college work. I really like the way I have edited them because they look quite grungey.  They suit being black and white because it makes them look duller.

Documentary - Doors

So, for my self-initiated brief in Documentary I decided to do doors. I find doors quite interesting because they are all different. Different colours, sizes and shapes.

I'm really quite happy with these images and really like Documentary photography. It's definitely something I'd think about doing a lot of in the future, there's no limits with this kind of photography and it doesn't have to be perfect!

Here are the final images I chose for submission:

Fashion, self initiated brief...

So, for my fashion self-initiated brief I chose to do English Heritage. I'd been wanting to do this kind of fashion shoot for a while and this was my chance.

It didn't work out exactly how I'd liked because I left all the planning and deciding on clothes until last minute. I would have loved to have bought more clothes and accessories for a few different looks but I couldn't afford it. These two are the best from the shoot.

Model: Suzanne Wilson.

Graded 2...

I've not posted a blog in a while because I've been really busy with finishing college off. I can't wait until it's all over, during summer I am going to work to save up for more equipment, learn to drive (and hopefully get a car!!!) and work on new photos for my portfolio!

These images are some of my finals for Graded 2. I haven't put them all up here because I wasn't happy with most of them. The ones I have put up are the ones I'm happiest with but I still don't like them much!

Alexander McQueen...

I was browsing the internet and doing research for college and I found these amazing dresses made by Alexander McQueen that I would absolutely LOVE to do shoots with. How beautiful are these...

Before and after...

Here's a wee before and after of a shot I took and edited yesterday.

A couple of wee edits from todays adventures...

Today, I attended an exhibition at The Burrell Collection to look at photos by a photographer called John Thompson who was born in Edinburgh in 1837 and went on to take photos of China on Wet Plate Collodion slides. Here are a couple of images from his China collection.

This is my favourite from the whole
exhibition

I definitely prefer the images that
haven't been cleaned up

Stunning. Looks like a painting

And here are a few I took today. The last 2 were play-abouts but I actually quite like them!
